Dan Nauman Named PSAC Co-Wrestler of the Week

Jan. 29, 2008

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg University wrestling red-shirt senior Dan Nauman (Middletown/Middletown) received his first career honor on Tuesday when he was named the PSAC Co-Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday, sharing the honor with Kutztown sophomore Scott Snyder.

At 157 pounds, Nauman finished last weekend with a perfect 4-0 record at the East Coast Duals, totaling two victories by fall. He opened the day with a fall in 1:10 over Isaac Stovall of Anderson (S.C.) before ending his afternoon with a fall in 4:50 over Rashaad Saunders of host UNC Pembroke.

Of his two decisions, Nauman’s performance was highlighted by a 12-10 decision over Mikel Bush of No. 18-ranked Limestone.

Nauman is having his strongest season as a Red Raider this year, ranking second on the team with 15 victories while leading the team in falls with five. His 15-7 record is just four wins shy of his career-high of 19 set during the 2005-06 season when he qualified for the NCAA championships.

Nauman has the fourth-best record in the PSAC this season and his five falls are also the fourth-most. For his career, Nauman has recorded a 55-50 record which includes 14 falls, two technical falls and six major decisions.

Nauman will be one of four wrestlers who will be competing in their final home match on Wednesday night against Delaware Valley. Competition begins at 7:00 p.m., with Nauman, Pete Grodziak (Allentown/Parkland), Rob Cross (Milton/Milton) and Kirby Fanus (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs) being honored prior to the match.
