SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - In its first dual match since December 5, the Shippensburg University wrestling team used two falls, two technical falls, one major decision and a forfeit en route to a convincing 41-6 victory over Seton Hill Tuesday night at Heiges Field House.

The Red Raiders (2-1) won all of the contested matches on the evening and nine of the 10 overall, losing only the match at 133 pounds by forfeit. Shippensburg was also the beneficiary of a forfeit at 184 pounds where red-shirt sophomore Jon Hade (New Oxford/Bermudian Springs) picked up his 10th victory of the season.

In just his second dual match competition of the season after battling through injury, red-shirt senior Dan Nauman (Middletown/Middletown) wasted no time in picking up his team-leading third fall of the season in only 1:09 over Bill Landefeld.

The Red Raiders also notched two dominating technical falls at 165 and 197 pounds. Red-shirt freshman David Sunderland (Saltillo/Southern Huntingdon) led 10-3 with 2:04 of riding time at 165 after just one period. He extended that advantage to 18-4 and 3:14 after two before getting the final point on an escape with 1:08 left in the third period.

Senior Pete Grodziak (Allentown/Parkland) scored three takedowns and four near falls in the first period against Stephen Zubach to lead 15-2 before a fifth near-fall terminated the match with Grodziak winning 17-2 and picking up his first tech fall of the season.

At 174 pounds, red-shirt freshman Chris Barrick (Carlisle/Big Spring) jumped out to a 7-1 lead after one period with a takedown and two near falls en route to a 15-5 major decision over Lewis Spadaro. The victory improved Barrick's record to 10-3 this season with three falls, three tech falls and three major decisions.

Trailing 6-3 after a 2-0 decision by red-shirt freshman Andrew Jones (Haverford/Haverford) at 125 pounds, Shippensburg won the final eight weight classes, beginning with a fall in 3:52 by sophomore Steve Fittery (Denver/Cocalico) over Buck Watkins at 141.

It was Fittery's team-leading 12th victory of the season, snapping a two-match losing streak. The victory also improved his career record at 141 to 32-5 and was his 13th career fall, nine of which have come at 141.

At 149 pounds, the match between red-shirt junior Kirby Fanus (Boiling Springs/Boiling Springs) and Josh Voelker was tied at 5-5 after the first period before Fanus recorded a three-point near fall to hold an 8-7 advantage after two periods. In the third, Fanus started the period down and scored a crucial escape point to pull out a 9-7 victory.

Red-shirt freshman Jon Rhone (Chambersburg/Chambersburg) picked up his third win of the season and first in dual match victory with a 6-4 decision over Matt Galadyk at heavyweight.
