Antolik Named to AVCA All-Atlantic Region First Team, Roche Honorable Mention

sophomore Brittany
Roche (Morrisville/Pennsbury) were recognized by the American
Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday as both were selected to
the All-Atlantic
Region Team. Antolik was selected to the first team while Roche received
honorable mention accolades.
The duo combined for 890 kills, 64 service aces, 321 digs and 174 total
blocks this season for the Lady Raiders.
Already having earned an All-PSAC Eastern Division First Team selection
this year, Antolik finished the season with 435 kills, the third-highest
total in school history while also finishing with 114 blocks, which
included a school-record 93 block assists.
In addition to posting a
.300 hitting percentage, she was twice named PSAC Eastern Division
Player of the Week on September 24 and October 9 and totaled 10 or
more kills in a match 23 times, including a career-high 18 against
Bryant on September 21.
Meanwhile, Roche led the Lady Raiders with 455 kills which were the
second-most in school history, trailing only Jenn Fuhrman who totaled
489 in 2000. In her first season for Shippensburg after transferring
from Division I Georgia State, Roche totaled 10 or more kills in a
match 20 times this season and led the team with 10 double doubles.
She set the school record for kills in a match with 33 against Kutztown
in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship and recorded
10 or more digs in a match 10 times.
Shippensburg (30-12) had the best season school history this year as
the team won a school-record 30 matches, breaking the old mark of 24,
and made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA championship. The Lady
Raiders also won their second PSAC Eastern Division championship in
the last four years, finishing conference play 10-0 for the first time
since 1990.
