Toomey Becomes Fourth Lady Raider to Earn PSAC Player of the Week

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – On Tuesday, Shippensburg University women's volleyball sophomore Colleen Toomey (Reading/Muhlenberg) became the fourth different Lady Raider this season to be selected as the PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week. She led the Lady Raiders to a 2-0 week with wins over Kutztown and Cheyney.
Against Kutztown, Toomey totaled a team-high 15 kills along with eight digs and one service ace. On Saturday in the season finale against Cheyney, she totaled seven kills, two service aces and three digs.
Toomey finished the regular season third on the team in kills with 387, while leading the team with 73 service aces. She is also second on the team with 327 digs and has totaled 33 blocks.
With the victories, Shippensburg became the first team in program history to win 30 matches in a season while becoming just the second to finish its PSAC Eastern Division schedule undefeated.
The Lady Raiders begin play in the 2007 PSAC Volleyball Championship on Friday wit a 7:30 p.m., match against the winner of the West Chester versus Clarion.
