DuVall Earns Second PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week Honor This Season

Oct. 30, 2007

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) was named the PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week for women’s volleyball on Tuesday afternoon, marking the second time this season that DuVall has earned the award as well as the fifth time this season that a Lady Raider has been bestowed with a conference honor.

DuVall had a strong all-around performance in Shippensburg's only match last week, a 3-0 victory at West Chester that secured a spot in the PSAC Volleyball Championship. The 30-24, 30-23, 30-27 victory marked the first time since 2000 that the Lady Raiders had swept the season series with the Golden Rams.

In that contest, DuVall totaled six kills, 46 assists and seven digs. Her 15.33 assists per game was nearly 1.5 times better than her season average. The senior also added two service aces in the contest that kept the Lady Raiders undefeated in PSAC East play.

Shippensburg travels to Kutztown tonight for a battle between the two top teams in the PSAC Eastern Division. The contest against the Golden Bears will take place at 7 p.m.
