Oct. 27, 2006

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - On Saturday, Oct. 28, Lady Raider volleyball seniors Missy Pierce (Valparaiso, Ind./West Aurora (Ill.)) and Erin Graf (Laurel, Md./Atholton) will be making the final appearances of their Shippensburg careers.

Millersville and Wilmington (Del.) come to Heiges Field House for a tri-match, and the Lady Raiders, with a 22-13 overall record, can break the school record for victories in a season with two wins on Saturday.

Graf has been a member of the Lady Raider team for two seasons and during that time, she has totaled 239 kills, 26 block solos and 29 block assists. Prior to coming to Shippensburg, Erin attended Howard Community College for two years. There, she totaled 289 kills, including a team-leading 207 in 2004. In her career, Graf totaled 528 kills, 126, 115 blocks and 60 aces. So far this season, she has 152 kills and ranks fifth on the team in kills per game.

In four seasons, Pierce has become one of the most prolific players in Shippensburg history. She has been an All-PSAC Eastern Division selection in each of her first three seasons, becoming just the third player since 1991 to do so. This season, she became just the third player in Shippensburg history to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. In 2004, she set the school record for digs in a season, and on October 3rd, she became the school’s career digs leader, passing former teammate Michelle Doughty with 1,684. Also, Pierce currently stands in second place on the Shippensburg career kills list with 1,242. So far this season, she leads the team in kills, service aces and digs.

Shippensburg takes on Millersville in the final Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division match-up of the season at 3 p.m. The Lady Raiders close out the season against Wilmington at 7 p.m.
