Volleyball Totals 25 Aces in 3-0 Sweep of Cheyney at Home

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg Lady Raider volleyball team totaled 25 aces, including eight from freshman Hilary Addleman (Chambersburg/Chambersburg) as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Cheyney Tuesday evening at Heiges Field House. The victory moves Shippensburg within one win of tying the school record for victories in a season, set by the 1982 squad that posted a 23-10-3 record.

Shippensburg (22-13, 4-5 PSAC East) cruised through the first game by a 30-5 score. In the second game, Cheyney jumped out to a 2-0 lead and knotted the game at 4-4 before the Lady Raiders rattled off 23 consecutive points en route to a 30-7 win. Shippensburg won the third game, 30-8.

Along with Addleman's eight aces, senior Erin Graf (Laurel, Md./Atholton) notched six, freshman Missy Ramp (York/Central York) totaled four and senior Missy Pierce (Valparaiso, Ind./West Aurora (Ill.)) and freshman Melanie Fries (Shady Grove/Greencastle) each added three.

Graf led the team with 12 kills on 16 attempts for a hitting percentage of .625. Freshman Cindel Young (McConnellsburg/Broadfording Christian Academy) added seven to the cause.

The Lady Raiders close out their season on Saturday in a tri-match with Millersville and Wilmington (Del.). Prior to the Millersville contest, which begins at 3:00 p.m., the Lady Raiders will honor its two seniors, Missy Pierce and Erin Graf. The Lady Raiders take on Wilmington (Del.) at 7:00 p.m.
