Lady Raiders Top East Stroudsburg, UDC in Home Tri-Match on Saturday

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - With victories over the University of District of Columbia and PSAC Eastern Division member East Stroudsburg on Saturday, the Shippensburg volleyball team eclipsed the 20-win mark for the third-straight season.

In the last three season's, under the direction of head coach Leanne Piscotty, Shippensburg (21-13, 3-5 PSAC East) has recorded a 64-45 record.

The Lady Raiders entered Saturday having lost four of their last five matches and two-straight PSAC Eastern Division matches, but that streak quickly came to end with the 3-1 victory over East Stroudsburg. Shippensburg won by scores of 30-28, 28-30, 30-19 and 30-20.

Senior Missy Pierce (Valparaiso, Ind./West Aurora (Ill.)) led the team with 16 kills, four service aces and 17 digs. Freshman Colleen Toomey (Reading/Muhlenberg) tallied 13 kills and tied Pierce for a team-high with 17 digs.

Freshman Cindel Young (McConnellsburg/Broadfording Christian Academy) recorded 12 kills and two block assists. Sophomore Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) led the team with 37 assists.

Shippensburg continued to roll in the second match of the afternoon against District of Columbia, sweeping the Firebirds, 30-18, 30-17, 30-20.

Freshman Kali Antolik (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) recorded a team-high 11 kills on 19 attempts for a .526 hitting percentage. Pierce added nine kills and nine digs while Duvall chipped in 29 assists and four service aces.

The Lady Raiders close out the season with three matches at Heiges Field House including a PSAC Eastern Division match-up against Cheyney on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
