Lady Raiders Extend Winning Streak to Seven With Sweep of Wheeling Jesuit

WHEELING, W. Va. - The Shippensburg volleyball team captured its seventh-straight victory, sweeping Wheeling Jesuit by scores of 30-23, 30-24, 30-26 at the WJU Tournament Friday evening.
Shippensburg's season has been streaky as they opened the season winning nine of their first 10 matches. An eight match losing streak followed, but in the current winning streak, the Lady Raiders (16-9) have dropped just two games in seven matches.
Against Wheeling Jesuit (11-11), senior Missy Pierce (Valparaiso, Ind./West Aurora (Ill.)) led the way with 16 kills while committing just two errors on 38 attempts. Freshman Kali Antolik (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) tallied 12 kills and committed two errors in 20 swings.
Freshman Colleen Toomey (Reading/Muhlenberg) added 15 kills and nine digs. Sophomore Kelsi Hoffman (York/Central York) chipped in 10 digs and four service aces. Sophomore Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) also had four aces. Freshman Missy Ramp (York/West York) led the team with 20 assists.
The Lady Raiders return to action in the WJU Tournament on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., against Mount Olive before facing off against West Virginia Wesleyan at 3:30 p.m.
