Lady Raider Volleyball Drops Final Two Matches at West Chester PSAC Crossover

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's volleyball team saw its 10-match win streak come to an end on Saturday with back-to-back losses to Edinboro and Lock Haven at West Chester in a PSAC crossover. The Lady Raiders fell to Edinboro 30-28, 22-30, 30-23, 18-30 and 14-16 before losing to Lock Haven 19-30, 17-30, 32-30 and 19-30.

Against Edinboro, who is in third place in the PSAC Western Division, Shippensburg (18-6) was led by 20 kills from red-shirt sophomore Brittany Roche (Morrinsville/Pennsbury), one short of her season and career-high set versus Limestone on September 1. She totaled 19 in Friday night's win over Clarion. She also added nine digs, four service aces and three block assists.

Sophomore Colleen Toomey (Reading/Muhlenberg) added 17 kills, four digs and one block assist while junior Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) totaled four kills, 44 assists, two service aces and one block assist. Junior Kelsi Hoffman (York/West York) had a team-high 12 digs and sophomore Cindel Young (McConnellsburg/Broadfoarding Christian) totaled six kills, three block assists and one block solo.

Against fourth place Lock Haven, sophomore Kali Antolik (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) had a team-high 13 kills along with one block assist while Young added nine kills, one block solo and one block assist.

Toomey totaled seven kills and 10 digs, junior Karey Toms (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) had five kills, seven digs and two service aces and DuVall added three kills and 36 assists. Sophomore Hannah Sorber (Noxen/Lake-Lehman) had four kills and two block solos and Hoffman joined Toomey with a team-high 10 digs.

Shippensburg returns to PSAC Eastern Division play on Tuesday when it travels to Cheyney. The Lady Raiders are currently 4-0 in conference, one match ahead of Kutztown who is 3-1 and two ahead of Millersville and West Chester who are both 2-2. Millersville and West Chester play on Tuesday while Kutztown hosts East Stroudsburg.
