Lady Raiders End Skid With Rout of Cheyney

CHEYNEY, Pa. - The Shippensburg University
volleyball team halted its eight-match losing streak and earned its first
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division victory
of the season by routing Cheyney 3-0 on the road Tuesday evening.
The Lady Raiders, playing without key players in senior Missy Pierce
(Valparaiso, Ind/West Aurora (Ill.)) and sophomores Kelsi
Hoffman (York/West York) and
Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville), still managed to roll past
Cheyney 30-2, 30-11, 30-7.
With the victory, Shippensburg improves to 10-9 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC
East. Cheyney, meanwhile, remains winless on the season at 0-5 overall and
0-3 in the PSAC East.
Freshman Kali Antolik (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) tied
a Shippensburg single match record with 12 service aces. In 22 service attempts,
she did not commit
an error. Fellow freshman Renee Parseghian (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) recorded
a career-high 11 service aces to go along with her career-high 34 assists.
Shippensburg received at least two kills from eight different players. Sophomore
Brooke Neider (Reading/Exeter) tallied a career-high 10 kills and freshman
Hilary Addleman (Chambersburg/Chambersburg) posted eight kills, three service
aces and a team-best three digs.
The Lady Raiders host the Shippensburg Invitational this weekend at Heiges
Field House. Action for the Lady Raiders starts on Friday at 12 p.m. against
Ohio Valley.
