Lady Raiders Sweep Kutztown, Move Into Sole Possession of PSAC East Lead

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University
women's volleyball sophomore Kali Antolik (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop),
who was named PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon,
totaled a match-high 15 kills to lead the Lady Raiders to a 30-28, 30-22,
33-31 victory over Kutztown Tuesday night at Heiges Field House.
With the win, Shippensburg (17-4, 4-0 PSAC East) is now in sole possession
of first place in the PSAC Eastern Division, one match ahead of Kutztown,
after both teams entered tonight's match with identical 3-0 conference records.
The Lady Raiders are also a match-and-a-half ahead of Millersville who is
in third-place with a 2-1 conference mark after tonight's victory over East
Stroudsburg.
Red-shirt sophomore Brittany Roche (Morrisville/Pennsbury) added 13 kills
and junior Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville), who was named PSAC
Eastern Division Player of the Week last Tuesday, totaled six kills, 48 assists
and 13 digs while hitting .353 with no errors in 17 attempts.
Shippensburg took a 2-0 lead in the match after totaling a combined 41 kills
and a .311 hitting percentage in each game.
Both teams traded the lead back-and-forth in game three, but the Lady Raiders
were able to egde out a two-point victory in extra time thanks to the Golden
Bears' 10 errors and .049 hitting percentage despite Shippensburg committing
13 errors of their own. The Lady Raiders also posted 31 digs in the third
game.
Junior Kelsi Hoffman (York/West York) led Shippensburg with 14 digs as she
was one of five Lady Raiders who totaled at least 10 digs. In addition to
DuVall's 13, sophomore Missy Ramp (York/Central York) added 12.
Sophomore Cindel Young (McConnellsburg/Broadfoarding Christian), the reigning
PSAC Eastern Division Rookie of the Year, had 11 digs and team-high three
blocks.
Shippensburg will head to West Chester this Friday for the first of two PSAC
crossovers this season and will open the two-day event against Clarion at
5:00 PM. The Golden Eagles are currently in second place in the Western Division
with a mark of 3-1 and 15-1 overall. On Saturday, the Lady Raiders will face
Edinboro and Lock Haven who are in third and fourth place in the West, respectively.
