#24 Lock Haven Wins Rematch of 2004 PSAC Championship

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - In a rematch
of the 2004 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) volleyball tournament
championship match, 24th-ranked Lock Haven University ended Shippensburg
University's two-match winning streak with a three-game sweep, 30-18, 30-22,
32-30, at the PSAC Crossover at East Stroudsburg University.
The Lady Raiders (9-7) were led by senior Michelle Doughty (Harrisburg,
Pa./Central Dauphin) who totaled a team-high seven kills along with 15
digs. Freshman Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) had five kills
in seven attempts to compliment 22 assists and six digs.
Other strong performances for Shippensburg included junior Missy
Pierce (Valparaiso, Ind./West Aurora (IL)) with five kills and 13 digs as well
as freshman Ashleigh Helfrick (Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) who had
three kills and 13 digs. Defensively, freshman Kelsi Hoffman (York,
Pa./West York) totaled a team-high 22 digs.
The Lady Eagles (8-4), who won their fourth-straight match and sixth out
of the last seven, are ranked No. 24 in the latest CSTV/American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The Lady Raiders return to action on Saturday afternoon with two matches
against PSAC Western Division competition. The team plays Clarion University
at 10:00 a.m., and Edinboro University at 4:00 p.m.
