Lady Raider Volleyball Drops First Match at PSAC Crossover
Sept. 22, 2006
INDIANA, Pa. - The Shippensburg University
volleyball team found itself looking for offense as it dropped its sixth
straight match, falling to Slippery Rock 3-0 Friday evening at the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference Crossover at Indiana (Pa.).
Slippery Rock (13-3, 2-1 PSAC West) cruised through the first two games 30-23
and 30-15. Ship battled back in the third, but fell just short, 30-27.
Since Shippensburg's (9-7, 0-3 PSAC East) skid began on Sept. 9, only
once has a Lady Raider recorded more than 11 kills in a match. That came
in a 3-2 loss to Adelphi on Sept. 9. Also in that time, Shippensburg has
fallen by a 3-0 score four times.
On Friday, senior Missy Pierce (Valparaiso, Ind./West Aurora (Ill.)) tallied
a team-best 10 kills and freshman Colleen Toomey (Reading/Muhlenberg) recorded
seven kills.
Sophomore Kelsi Hoffman (York/West York) added 11 digs and sophomore Brooke
Neider (Reading/Exeter) made eight digs.
Freshman Missy Ramp (York/Central York) managed 16 assists while sophomore
Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) picked up 13.
The Lady Raiders look to put a stop to the skid on Saturday with matches
against Indiana (Pa.) and California (Pa.) of the PSAC West. Ship‚s
first match begins at 1 p.m.
