Lady Raider Volleyball Wins Third-Straight, Remains Atop PSAC East Standings

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Red-shirt
sophomore Brittany Roche (Morrinsville/Pennsbury) and sophomore Cindel
Young (McConnellsburg/Broadfoarding Christian) each totaled 12 kills as the Shippensburg
University women's volleyball team won its third-straight match and remained
atop the PSAC Eastern Division standings with a 30-16, 30-17 and 30-26 victory
at East Stroudsburg Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Lady Raiders (11-4, 2-0 PSAC East) are tied for first in the PSAC Eastern
Division with Kutztown who also improved to 2-0 with a five-game victory
over previously unbeaten West Chester on Saturday.
Roche and Toomey also combined for five block assists, led by three from
Young while Roche added eight digs.
Junior Maureen DuVall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) continued her all-around
strong play as she totaled 37 assists, four digs, two kills, one block solo,
one block assist and one service ace.
Sophomore Colleen Toomey (Reading/Muhlenberg) added six kills, five digs and three service aces to raise her team-leading
season total to 28.
Defensively, junior Kelsi Hoffman (York/West York) led the team in digs with
nine, the 10th time in 15 matches this season she has led the Lady Raiders
in digs. She also added three service aces.
Shippensburg returns home for its first non-tournament home match as the
Lady Raiders host West Chester Tuesday beginning at 7:00 PM inside Heiges Field
House.
