Lady Raider Volleyball Wins Fifth-Straight Match, Improves Record to 7-1

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's volleyball team has now reeled off six consecutive victories after winning two more matches Saturday at Heiges Field House on the final day of the Raider Classic.
After dispatching Goldey-Beacom by scores of 30-22, 30-13 and 30-18, Shippensburg (7-1) defeated Limestone in four games by scores of 31-29, 30-17, 22-30 and 30-21.
Dating back to last season, the Lady Raiders have now won 12 of their last 13 matches, with Shippensburg’s only blemish being a 3-0 sweep against Westmont last weekend.
Against Goldey-Beacom, the Lady Raiders convincingly defeated the Lightning behind a plethora of solid performances. Offensively, sophomore Colleen Toomey (Reading/Muhlenberg) delivered 13 kills and committed just two errors while sophomore Kali Antolik (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) contributed 12 kills. She also had three block assists.
Defensively, four different Lady Raiders totaled at least five digs with junior libero Kelsi Hoffman (York/West York) leading the way with 10. Sophomore Missy Ramp (York/Central York) delivered seven digs and a team-high 25 assists while junior Karey Toms (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) added four service aces.
In the second match versus Limestone, the Lady Raiders had a little bit tougher match, dropping just its fifth game of the season en route to the 3-1 victory. The Lady Raiders dropped the third game, but rebounded to reel off several consecutive points in the fourth game to edge out the Saints.
Junior Brittany Roche (Morrinsville/Pennsbury) excelled in the contest, driving home a team-high 21 kills to go along with seven digs. Toomey and Antolik each added 11 kills while Hoffman added 18 digs.
Shippensburg will return to action on Tuesday night when the Lady Raiders travel to Elizabethtown. The match begins at 7:00 PM.
