Kihm Sets New School Record in Pole Vault, Lady Raiders Finish Second

CARLISLE, Pa. - Shippensburg University women's track and field freshman Christine Kihm (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) broke the school record in the pole vault with a leap of 11-feet, 3-inches while the Lady Raiders placed second at the DuCharme Invitational on Friday night at nearby Dickinson College.
Shippensburg totaled 167 points in the six-team meet, trailing only host Dickinson by 11. The Lady Raiders totaled 19 top-three finishes with three athletes earning first-place.
Kihm finished second in the pole vault with her school record mark, just over two inches behind Megan Mlinarchik of Eastern Mennonite University at 11-feet, 5 3/4-inches. The previous school record was 11-feet, 1-inch, set by Lisa McCormick in 2004.
The Lady Raiders captured the top-three places in the 55 meters, led by freshman Siobhan Richards (York Haven, Pa./York Haven) who came in first with a time of 7.66 seconds. Junior Julie Riccardo (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and freshman Alisa Murray (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) finished second and third, respectively.
Shippensburg also took the top two spots in the triple jump and the weight throw. Freshmen Karen Good (Terre Hill, Pa./Garden Spot) and Amanda Spickler (Myersville, Md./Middletown) finished first and second, respectively in the long jump while junior Megan Schweigofer (Tyler Hill, Pa./Honesdale) and senior Sonia Spriggs (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) were the top two in the weight throw.
Other notable performances for the Lady Raiders included senior Lindsey Incorvati (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Township) who was second in the 1,000 meters, freshman Kristen McGoldrick (Boothwyn, Pa./Garnet Valley) who was second in the mile run and freshman Leslie Serrano (LeMasters, Pa./James Buchanan) who placed second in the long jump.
Spickler also placed third in the long jump while junior Stacy Wilcher (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) was third in the pole vault.
The Lady Raiders' 4x400-meter relay teams took home first and second-place as well.
Shippensburg will not return to action until Saturday, January 21, when the team travels to College Park, Maryland for the Maryland Invitational.
