Lady Raiders Open 2005-06 Season With Bison Opener at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's track team opened its 2005-06 season at Bucknell University in the Bison Opener on Saturday, placing 10 athletes in the top-15 in their respective events.
In the 60-meter dash, senior Flo Yerokun (Perkiomenville, Pa./Spring-Ford) placed 11th in a time of 7.98 seconds. Morgan State's Mariama Gondo took top honors with a time of 7.66 seconds.
Junior Julie Riccardo (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) placed 14th in the 200 meters in a time of 27.38 seconds, and in the 400 meters, freshman Alisa Murray (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) brought home 13th-place after running a time of 1:03.09.
The Lady Raiders had two runners place in the top-10 in the 800-meter run. Freshman Kristen McGoldrick (Boothwyn, Pa./Garnett Valley) placed fifth, finishing seven seconds out of first-place with a time of 2:27.79. Senior Lindsey Incorvati (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Township) finished in sixth after running the track in 2:27.79.
In the high jump event, four Lady Raiders placed in the top-15. Junior Monica Speca (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) led the way with a third-place finish and a leap of 1.60 meters. Sophomore Casey Drummond (Marple Glenn, Pa./Upper Dublin) took sixth with a jump of 1.55 meters. Freshman Ashleigh Helfrick (Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) and freshman Shae Conrad (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) tied for 12th after jumping 1.50 meters.
Freshman Karen Good (Terre Hill, Pa./Garden Spot) placed 14th in the triple jump after jumping a distance of 10.40 meters.
The only Lady Raider to place in the throwing events was junior Megan Schweighofer (Tyler Hill, Pa./Honesdale) who took 11th place in the weight throw with a toss of 14.43 meters.
The Lady Raiders travel to nearby Carlisle for the Dickinson Holiday Meet, hosted by Dickinson College next Friday, December 9. Competition begins at 6:00 p.m.
