Nine Lady Raiders Grab Top-10 Finishes at Season-Opening Bucknell Bison Opener

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Nine Shippensburg Lady
Raider track and field athletes opened their 2006-07 winter season with
top-10 finishes at the Bucknell Bison Opener on Saturday.
Sophomore Casey Drummond (Maple Glen/Upper Dublin) was the Lady Raiders’ top
finisher at the meet. She placed third in the high jump with a leap of 1.60
meters.
Three more Lady Raiders finished in a tie for fifth in the long jump. Sophomore Shae
Conrad (Selingsgrove/Selingsgrove), sophomore Ashleigh Helfrick
(Greencastle/James Buchanan) and senior Monica Speca (Mechanicsburg/Trinity) each
cleared 1.60 meters, placing them in a six-way tie for the fifth spot.
Freshman Mary Dell (Boiling Springs/Boiling Springs), in her first collegiate
meet, placed ninth in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 26.65. She also
placed 10th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.01.
Senior Stacy Wilcher (Harleysville/Souderton) cleared a height of 3.0 meters,
which was good enough for seventh place in the pole vault. Sophomore Kristen
McGoldrick (Boothwyn/Garnet Valley) turned in an eighth-place finish in the
1,000-meter run after turning in a time of 3:15.07.
In the weight throw, senior Megan Schweighofer (Tyler Hill/Honesdale) recorded
a throw of 14.32 meters, placing her in ninth.
Shippensburg returns to action on Fri., Dec. 8 at the DuCharme Invitational
at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
