Lady Raiders Earn Six Top-Two Finishes at Paul Kaiser Classic

Pa. - The Shippensburg
University women’s track and field team placed six athletes in
the top two at the Paul Kaiser Track an Field Classic,
held in
front of a home audience at Seth Grove Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Sonia Spriggs (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) took home first place
in the shot put with a distance of 43’05”, and freshman Lindsey
Housholder (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewistown) captured the top spot in the javelin
throw with a distance of 120’09”. Freshman Ashley
Starr (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) finished fifth in the same javelin throw at a distance
of 113’02”, and junior
Megan Schweighofer (Tyler Hill, Pa./Honesdale) finished seventh in the shot put and eigth in the discus to help Shippensburg’s
cause. Junior Monica Speca (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity), fresh off the
Penn Relays, took second in the high jump at 5’3” while freshman
Christine Kihm (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) finished third in the pole
vault at 10’06”.
Also among the top finishers for the Lady Raiders were distance runners.
Senior Lindsey Incorvati (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Township) was second in
the 800-meter with a time of 2:19.45, and junior Christine Welker
(Coraplois, Pa./Upper Moreland) also placed seond in the 5000-meter with a time of
19:11.59. Senior Lindsey Govern (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland
Valley) finished third in the 3000-meter and fifth in the 1500-meter, clocking
in at respective times of 10:04.07 and 4:54.47 in those events. There
were also two sixth-place finishes from freshman Alli Rineer
(Lititz, Pa./Warwick) in the 3000-meter and sophomore Christine
Herman (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) in the 5000-meter.
Shippensburg’s 4x100 relay team won their event with a time of
48.83 and the 4x400 relay team clocked in at 4:11.04 to finish third.
Junior Julie Riccardo (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and freshman Siobhan
Richards (York Haven,Pa./York Haven) finished fifth and sixth, respectively,
in the 100-meter dash, with times of 12.48 and 12.52. Riccardo also placed
sixth in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 26.04. Freshman Courtney
Kostich (Thompsontown, Pa./East Juniata) took fourth in the 400-meter
hurdles at 1:06.52 and eighth in the 100-meter hurdles at 16:29, while
senior Anna Mack (Olyphant, Pa./Lakeland) finished sixth in the latter
event at 14.90.
Shippensburg’s women’s track team returns to action on May
4 for the start of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships
at California (Pa.) University. Check back for announcement of start
