COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior Megan Schweighofer (Tyler Hill, Pa./Honesdale) placed fifth in the hammer throw with a throw of 49.60 meters to earn Shippensburg's lone top-8 finish Saturday at the Terrapin Invitational held at the University of Maryland.

The Lady Raiders finished in a tie for 23rd place as a team, totaling four points. Shippensburg finished one point ahead of fellow PSAC member California University (Pa.) in 25th place.

On the men's side, the Red Raiders had 12 athletes place in the top-8 en route to a third-place team finish, as Shippensburg was bested only by the University of Maryland College Park and the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC).

Two Red Raider sprinters finished in the top-6 places of the 100-meter dash. Sophomore Jamal James (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) finished in second place with a time of 10.78 seconds, falling just .19 seconds short of the school record for the event set in 1998 by Dave Brown. Freshman James Wilson (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) took sixth in the event with a time of 11.08 seconds.

The men’s and women’s track and field teams will be in action next weekend at the PSAC West Challenge, held at California University (Pa.).
