SU Women's Track in Fifth Place After Day One of the PSAC Indoor Championships

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The
Shippensburg Univeristy women's indoor track and field team is in fifth
place after
day one of competition at the 2007 PSAC Indoor Championships behind held
on the campus of East Stroudsburg University. The Lady Raiders have accumulated
a total of 24 points, trailing first-place Slippery Rock by 22.50 points.
The major highlight for Shippensburg was senior Megan Schweighofer
(Tyler Hill/Honesdale), who won the weight throw with a heave of 52-feet 2.75-inches
that gave Shippensburg 10 team points. Also for Shippensburg, the distance
and 800-meter relay teams both finished in seventh place, recording two points
for each event.
In qualifying action, Siobhan Richards (York Haven/York Haven) qualified
fourth for the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.34 seconds, while freshman
Mary Dell (Boiling Springs/Boiling Springs) qualified in second place for
the 400-meter dash (58.95 seconds) and in fifth place for the 200-meter dash
(26.09 seconds). Sophomore Michelle Morcom (Moscow/Western Wayne) also qualified
in fourth place for the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.56 seconds.
The final day of competition concludes Sunday afternoon inside the Koehler
Field House at East Stroudsburg University.
