Richards, 1,600-Meter Relay Squad Highlight Lady Raider Indoor Track at Kent State Tune Up

KENT, Ohio - Junior Siobhan Richards (York Haven/York Haven) won the 300-meter hurdles and totaled two individual top-ten finishes, while the 1,600-meter relay team set a new school record to highlight the Shippensburg women's indoor track and field team on Saturday at the Kent State Tune Up.
The 1,600-meter relay team of freshmen Emily Dubs (Dover/Northeastern), Donnell Hodges (Camp Hill/Cedar Cliff), Erica Hess (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) and Laura Henzy (Langhorne/Neshaminy) completed the event in 3:57.26 to earn third place.
On January 19, the team of Hess, Henzy, sophomore Shannon Hare (Middletown/Middletown) and sophomore Mary Dell (Boiling Springs/Boiling Springs) set the current school record in the event at Bucknell with a time of 3:59.58.
Meanwhile, Richards won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.42 seconds while junior Michelle Morcom (Moscow/Western Wayne) finished third in 48.02 seconds and junior Kristina Grussenmyer (Holland/Council Rock South) placed seventh in 49.41 seconds.
In the 60-meter dash, Richards qualified for the finals and took eighth place in 7.89 seconds. Morcom placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.30 seconds.
Two Lady Raiders posted in the top five of the 400-meter dash. Hess followed her contribution to the 1,600-meter relay record by taking second place with a time of 57.65 seconds, while Hare finished third in 58.28 seconds.
Other top-ten finishers for Shippensburg included Dell, who took third in the mile run with a time of 5:07.39, and freshman Jamie McCollum (Duncannon/Susquenita), who finished ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.55.
Next weekend, Shippensburg will travel to East Stroudsburg for the 2008 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day event begins Saturday from Koehler Fieldhouse.
