Feb. 17, 2007
KENT, Ohio - Freshman
Mary Dell (Boiling Springs/Boiling Springs) highlighted a solid performance
for the Lady Raider indoor track and field squad on Saturday afternoon
at the Kent State Tune Up inside Kent State Fieldhouse. No team scores
were kept for the event.
Dell came just five one-hundredths of a second short of winning the 400 meter
dash, taking second place with a time of 57.21 seconds. She was bested only
by Wheeling Jesuit's Kayla Johnson.
Fellow freshman Shannon Hare (Middletown/Middletown) took ninth place in the event with a time of 59.26 seconds.
In the 200 meter dash, four Shippensburg runners finished in the Top 11
spots. Dell took sixth place with a time of 26.09 seconds, while sophomore
Siobhan
Richards (York Haven/York Haven) took seventh place in 26.12. Hare finished
10th in 26.38, and senior Julie Riccardo (Exton/Bishop McDevitt) finished
in 11th place with a time of 26.51 seconds.
Richards also recorded the 12th fastest preliminary time in the 55 meter
hurdles, but her time of 9.04 seconds was not able to get her into the
finals.
The Lady Raider indoor track and field team will next be in action at the
PSAC Championships, which begin Friday and last through Saturday on the
campus of East Stroudsburg University.
