Lady Raider Distance Runners Turn in Solid Peformance at Bison Open

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University
women's track team received strong performances from its distance
runners, placing six runners in the
top 10 of the four distance events.
Senior Lindsey Govern (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led
the way with an eighth-place finish in the mile and a seventh-place finish
in the
1,000-meter run. Sophomore Bridget Danner (Etters, Pa./Red Land) took
10th in the mile, but ran a time of 3:12.22 to grab fourth in the 1000 meters.
Freshman Kristen McGoldrick (Boothwyn, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished
seventh in the 800-meter run, and freshman Allison Rineer (Lititz,
Pa./Warwick) took
10th in the 3,000-meter run.
In the high jump, junior Monica Speca (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) finished
second after clearing a height of 1.55 meters. Freshman Amanda Spickler
(Myersville, Md./Middletown) grabbed sixth in the long jump, and freshman Karen
Good (Terre Hill, Pa./Garden Spot) earned fourth in the triple jump.
In the throwing events, senior Sonia Spriggs (Avondale, Pa./Avon
Grove) placed
sixth in the shot put with a toss of 11.77 meters, and she also cracked the
top 10 in the weight throw with a distance of 13.31 meters.
The Lady Raiders return to action on February 4 at the New Balance Collegiate
Invitational.
