Drummond Wins High Jump, Dell Takes Second in 400 for Lady Raiders at Bison Open and Multi

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg
Lady Raider junior Casey Drummond (Marple Glen/Warwick) earned
first place in the high jump while freshman Mary Dell (Boiling
Springs/Boiling Springs) continued the strong start to her
2007 season with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash, highlighting
Shippensburg's
performances through
two days at the Bison Open and Multi.
Drummond cleared 5-3, besting senior teammate Monica Speca (Mechanicsburg/Trinity) and a host of other competitors who tied for second after clearing 5-1
In the 400-meter dash, Dell crossed the finish line in 59.64 seconds, placing
second overall and recording the best time of any Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference runner this season. Dell also earned an eighth-place finish in
200-meter dash with a time of 26.83 seconds.
Sophomore Siobahn Richards (York Haven/York Haven) placed 14th in the 60-meter
dash in 8.08 seconds and 14th in the 400 with a time of 1:04.04.
The Lady Raiders placed two runners in the top 15 of the 5,000-meter run.
Leading the way was sophomore Ali Rineer (Lititz/Warwick), who took sixth
with a time of 19:17.98. Sophomore Allison Andreyko (King of Prussia/Upper
Merrion) posted a time of 20:49.71, which was good for 13th place.
Senior Megan Schweighofer (Tyler Hill/Honesdale) was the
teams' top finisher in the field events, after placing fourth in the weight
throw with
a toss of 49-4 π. Freshman Krystan Goetter (Ambler/Hatboro-Horsham)
placed ninth in the shot put, recording a throw of 37-5 π.
Senior Stacey Wilcher (Coraopolis/Blue Ridge) took sixth in the pole vault
after clearing a height of 10-10.
Sophomores Ashleigh Helfrick (Greencastle/James Buchanan) and Tina
Grussenmeyer (Holland/Council Rock South) placed ninth and 12th respectively in the indoor
pentathlon.
The Lady Raiders return to action at New Balance Collegiate Invitational
in New York City on Friday, Feb. 2.
