LEWISBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg University women's track and field freshman Erica Hess (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) and sophomore Shannon Hare (Middletown/Middletown) finished first and second in the 500-meter dash to lead four Lady Raiders who placed in the top-10, highlighting the final day of competition at the Bison Open and Multi hosted by Bucknell.

Competing just up the road from her hometown, Hess crossed the line in 1:17.38, just ahead of Hare who finished in 1:17.54. For Hare, the performance caps a stellar two-day weekend in which she also was part of the Lady Raider distance medley relay team that took home first place on Friday with a time of 12:09.46 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA championships.

Joining the duo was freshman Emily Dubs (Dover/Northeastern) who came in fourth and freshman Jamie McCollum (Duncannon/Susquenita) who finished ninth. Nine of the top-10 runners in the event came from the PSAC.

In the high jump, senior Casey Drummond (Maple Glen/Upper Dublin) placed third while freshman Rebekah Newhart (Muncy/Hughesville) came in seventh. Both have already qualified for the PSAC championships next month.

Shippensburg totaled six top-five finishes and 11 top-10 finishes on Saturday. Freshman Katie Frey (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) and senior Bridget Danner (Etters/Red Land) placed fourth and fifth in the 1,000 meter run while freshman Kali Renninger (Newburg/Shippensburg) was eighth.

In the 400-meter dash, freshman Laura Henzy (Langhorne/Neshamniny) came in fourth in a time of 59.50 seconds, breaking the one-minute barrier and setting a new season-best after she was ranked eighth in the PSAC after posting a time of 1:00.06 at the Ursinus Classic on December 8.

The final top-10 showing for the Lady Raiders came in the shot put where Krysten Goetter (Ambler/Hatboro-Horsham) placed sixth. She also came in 13th in the weight throw.

After back-to-back weekends in competition at Bucknell, Shippensburg will travel to East Stroudsburg, site of the PSAC championships, next Saturday to compete in the DeSchriver Invitational. Competition gets underway at 10:00 a.m.
