Four Lady Raiders Finish in Top Five at Bucknell Heptagonal

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Returning to Bucknell University, the Shippensburg University Lady Raider track and field squad finished sixth at the Bucknell Heptagonal on Saturday. Freshman Mary Dell (Boiling Springs/Boiling Springs) led the way for the Lady Raiders.
She finished fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.48 seconds, and fifth again in the 200-meter dash at 26.69 seconds.
She was then part of the 4x400
relay team that
took fourth, clocking in at 4:09.24. The team consisted of Dell, sophomore Kristen
McGoldrick (Boothwyn/Garnet Valley), senior Julie Riccardo
(Exton/Bishop McDevitt) and sophomore Siobhan Richards
(York Haven/York Haven).
Among other scorers for the Lady Raiders, freshman Shannon Hare (Middletown/Middletown) took
sixth in the 200-yard dash with a time of 26.82. In the high jump, senior Monica
Speca (Mechanicsburg/Trinity) finished fourth with a clearance
of 1.60 meters, while senior Stacey Wilcher (Harleysville/Souderton) tied
for third in the pole vault with a 3.05 meter clearance. Sophomore Ashleigh
Helfrick (Greencastle/James Buchanan) took fifth in the long
jump at 5.19 meters, and senior Megan Schweighofer (Tyler Hill/Honesdale) finished
sixth in the shot put with a distance of 15.64 meters.
Shippensburg scored a total of 25 points, one half point ahead of East
Stroudsburg. Host Bucknell finished a clear first with 256 points,
well ahead of second-place
St. Francis (Pa.), who scored 90.
The Lady Raiders return to the track Friday, February 2 for the New Balance
Collegiate Invitational in New York, NY. Preliminaries will be held on
Friday, and the competition will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
