Lady Raiders Open Spring Schedule with 9-0 Victory at Bowie State

BOWIE, Md. - The Shippensburg
University women's tennis team opened its spring schedule by sweeping all
nine matches for a 9-0 victory against Bowie State on Saturday in Bowie,
Md.
Shippensburg opened the match with three-straight doubles victories, including
an 8-0 win from the No. 1 doubles team comprised of senior Lina Pavlionyte
(Vilnius, Lithuania/Vilnius Sv. Kristofer) and junior Nicole
Perugini (Reading, Pa./Holy Name).
In No. 2 doubles action, sophomore Karen Jensenius (York, Pa./Northeastern) and junior Melinda Meisel (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) teamed up for
an 8-1 win. Ship's No. 3 team of freshman Kristen Herman (Collegeville,
Pa./Christopher Dock) and Katie Hoover won by forfeit.
In singles action, Shippensburg's No. 1, Pavilionyte, picked up a 6-0, 6-0
victory over Danielle Davis. At No. 2 singles, Meisel defeated Jessica Bond,
6-2, 6-0.
Perugini notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Alexeus Webber at No. 3 singles, and
Jensenius won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, senior Allison
Bollinger (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco) triumphed 6-0, 6-0 over Annette Johnson,
and Herman picked up a win by forfeit at No. 6 singles.
The Lady Raiders open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Thursday,
March 4 against Clarion at home. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
