Kuntzmann Named PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week

Oct. 29, 2007

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - After recording a career-high six points with a hat trick in the Shippensburg women's soccer team's 4-1 victory at Clarion last Friday, sophomore Gayle Kuntzmann (Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham) was named the PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week on Monday.

Kuntzmann's three goals marked the first hat trick of her career. After opening the scoring in the 26th minute, she added her eighth goal of the season and her third game-winning goal of the season in the 67th minute to give Shippensburg a 2-1 lead before completing the hat trick with her thirrd tally in the 82nd minute.

The 2006 PSAC Eastern Division Rookie of the Year finished the 2007 season as the team's leading scorer, tallying nine goals and 19 points in 20 games.

It marks the first career honor for Kuntzmann, who has accumulated 21 goals, including seven game-winning tallies in her two seasons with the Lady Raiders, both of which are the most by a Shippensburg player during that time. She has also added seven assists.

Shippensburg concluded its season in fifth place in the PSAC Eastern Division after totaling an 8-12 overall record and a mark of 5-7 in the division.
