CLARION, Pa. - Behind a hat trick from sophomore Gayle Kuntzmann (Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham), the Shippensburg women’s soccer team earned a 4-1 road victory over Clarion in the team's final game of the 2007 season. Senior Mallory Skipp (Exton/B.Reed Henderson) concluded her career by scoring a goal with seven seconds remaining in the game.

Shippensburg (8-12) took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute with Kuntzmann's seventh goal of the season. Clarion (5-11-3) would tie the game in the 53rd minute when Jill Miller scored off an assist from Caitlin Borden.

Kuntzmann added her eighth goal of the season and her third game-winning goal of the season in the 67th minute, and later completed the hat trick with a tally in the 82nd minute. She finishes the season as the team's leading scorer, tallying nine goals in 20 games.

Junior Beth Long (Berwyn/Conestoga) was the goalkeeper for almost 50 minutes of play but left the game with an injury. She was replaced by sophomore Jennifer Bledsoe (Erial, N.J./Timber Creek), who made one save en route to her second career victory.

The contest marked the final game in the career of three Lady Raider seniors: Skipp, Sarah Tagye (Exton/Downingtown East) and Jamie Goetze (Glenmore/Downington). The trio combined for 226 appearances while missing just nine total games since the beginning of the 2004 season.

Skipp concludes her career with five goals and five assists following her late tally Friday evening. After starring as a forward in her freshman and sophomore seasons, Skipp made the transition to defense for her final two seasons and over the course of her career, has appeared in 76 of the team’s 79 contests.

Tagye, an integral member of Shippensburg's defensive corps, concluded her career having made 67 starts and appearing in 77 of the team’s 79 games since the beginning of the 2004 season. She started in 37 of the team’s 40 games over the last two seasons and started in all 19 of the team’s games during her sophomore season.

Goetze finished her career as a valuable asset to Shippensburg's midfield, totaling four goals and two assists, while starting in 55 games and appearing in 75 of the team’s 79 games since the start of the 2004 season.

“It is hard for me to think of only one of them without the other two,” head coach Rob Fulton said of the three seniors. “They are great players, supportive teammates, fantastic leaders and best friends. I appreciate the investment that each of them has made in our program over the past four years and I know that our team is better and stronger because of their commitment.”
