Long Named PSAC Eastern Division Women's Soccer Player of the Week

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg women's soccer sophomore Beth Long (Berwyn/Conestoga) was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week on Monday, marking the first career honor for Long and the first individual honor for the Lady Raiders this season.
Long totaled 24 saves and posted her sixth shutout, helping Shippensburg secure its first PSAC Women's Soccer Championship appearance since 2003 as the Lady Raiders went 2-0 this week with a crucial tie against Bloomsburg on Wednesday and a 3-0 victory over Lock Haven on Saturday.
In the team's 1-1 tie versus Bloomsburg that clinched the third-seed in the upcoming conference tournament, Long made a career-high 15 saves while allowing just one goal. On Saturday, she made nine saves in the team's 3-0 win.
On the season, Long has a mere
1.17 goals against average and an .854 saves percentage.
Shippensburg travels to California (Pa.) on Tuesday for a PSAC crossover
game with the Vulcans that begins at 1:00 p.m. The team will then close out
the regular-season at West
Chester
on Saturday.
