Shippensburg Women’s Soccer Honored for Academic Achievements

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University Women’s
Soccer team was honored as All-Academic by the National Soccer Coaches
Association for the 2005-2006 school year.
A total of 316 soccer teams (235 women, 81 men) posted a team grade point
average of 3.0 or higher, for the school year, thus earning NSCA Academic
Honors.
Led by Nikki Kegerreis (Honeybrook/Twin Valley) and Meredith
Yakscoe-Markle (WestChester/Henderson) the Women’s Soccer team
went 6-10-3 and 3-7-2 in the PSAC East during the 2005-06 campaign.
Kegerreis became the third leading scorer in Shippensburg history with
34 goals. She also finished second on the team in goals and points during
the 2005 season
with four and nine, respectively, earned Second Team honors for the second-straight
season. As a freshman in 2002, she was named First Team after totaling 16
goals and 10 assists for 42 points.
Yakscoe-Markle earned a spot on the First Team for the second-straight year
after playing in every minute of every game for the Lady Raiders for the
fourth consecutive
season. She posted four shutouts, ranking her sixth in the conference, while
totaling 105 saves and a goals against average of 1.58. Yakscoe-Markle ended
her career as the school record holder in career shutouts with 23 while also
holding the record for career saves with 493.
