Irwin, Crutchfield Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg women's lacrosse juniors Katie Irwin (Aston/Cardinal O'Hara) and Kristin Crutchfield (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) were two of 66 student-athletes from 24 schools in Division II to be selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll for having achieved success in the classroom.

Both elementary education majors, Irwin and Crutchfield boast cumulative grade point averages of 3.323 and 3.358, respectively. The duo also ranked first and second on the team in scoring with Crutchfield totaling 53 goals, 11 assists and 64 points while Irwin had 24 goals, 11 assists and 35 points.

This year was a breakout season for Irwin who started all 18 contests for the Lady Raiders. In three seasons at Shippensburg, she has appeared in 36 games, totaling 26 goals, 12 assists and 38 points.

Meanwhile, Crutchfield earned IWLCA All-South Region and All-PSAC Second Team honors this year while ranking second in the PSAC in goals per game. In 31 career games since transferring to Shippensburg from Queens (N.C.) and Carroll Community College, she has started 29 games and totaled 91 goals and 17 assists for a total of 108 points.

Crutchfield will begin her fourth and final collegiate season with 117 goals, 31 assists and 148 points after totaling 26 goals, 14 assists and 40 points in nine games at Queens (N.C.) in 2004.

Shippensburg finished the season with an 8-10 record, advancing to the semifinals of the PSAC Women's Lacrosse Championship for the third time in the last four seasons.
