June 24, 2005

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team was honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Friday as one of 13 schools in NCAA Division II to have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. In addition, three student-athletes from the team were recognized as members of the 2005 National Honor Roll.

The IWLCA's National Academic Team Award program recognizes those institutions that have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the second semester of the 2004-05 academic year. The top three teams ranked by team GPA are designated as Merit Squads while all other institutions with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher are designated as Academic Squads.

Also earning honors on Friday were senior Suzanne Brazeau (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine), junior Kim Hudicka (Media, Pa./Penncrest) and junior Kaitlin Keene (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough). All three student-athletes were honored for having achieved a GPA or at least 3.2 or higher for the spring semester.

The 64 student-athletes of the IWLCA 2005 National Honor Roll have all achieved junior or senior standing academically, are members of their school’s varsity lacrosse team and have achieved a GPA of at least 3.2 for the spring semester.
