May 25, 2006

SHIPPENSBURG , Pa. - Shippensburg lacrosse seniors Kim Hudicka (Media, Pa./Penncrest) and Kaitlin Keene (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) were both named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-South Region Second Team on Thursday. It is the second-straight IWLCA postseason honor for Keene and the first for Hudicka.

A total of 64 student-athletes in Division II were selected on one of the two All-Regional teams in the North and South. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 30. The two organizations will honor the All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 10 in Baltimore, Md.

Hudicka finished her final collegiate season with 56 goals, the highest total by a Shippensburg player since Cameron Colbert scored 69 in 1999. Hudicka concluded her career with 101 goals, becoming the 10th player in school history to reach 100 while finishing ninth on the school's career list.

Hudicka led the team in scoring in each of the past two seasons, totaling 66 points this year after 32 in 2005. She scored three or more goals in 11 of the team's 16 games this season, totaling a career-high and PSAC season-high eight in an 18-8 victory over Indiana (Pa.) at home on April 29.

In addition to being named IWLCA Second Team All-South Region this season, Hudicka was also selected to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team. For her career, she appeared in all 57 of the team's games during that time and totaled 101 goals, 21 assists and 122 points.

Keene was chosen IWLCA Second Team All-South Region for the second time in her career after also receiving the honor as a junior in 2005. She led the team in ground balls and caused turnovers for the second-straight year while starting all 16 games on defense. She scored her lone career goal and collegiate point in her final home game on April 29 versus Indiana (Pa.).

Keene totaled four ground balls and three caused turnovers at home versus then No. 7-ranked West Chester on March 28 and had three ground balls and six caused turnovers at home against East Stroudsburg on April 2. She totaled a season-high six ground balls at Millersville on April 27 and had five ground balls at then No. 4-ranked Lock Haven on April 19.

As a sophomore in 2004, Keen was chosen All-PSAC Second Team. She also led the team in caused turnovers as a freshman in 2003 and started all 31 of the team’s games over the past two seasons and 45 of the team’s 46 over the last three. In 2004, Keene started in all 14 of the games she played in, missing one because of injury.
