Landes Earns First PSAC Coach of the Year Award, Hudicka First Team

SHIPPENSBURG , Pa. - Shippensburg lacrosse head coach Bertie Landes was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Coach of the Year while senior Kim Hudicka (Media, Pa./Penncrest) was named All-PSAC First Team it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
After totaling just one win in 2005, Landes led Shippensburg to a seven-game improvement this season as the Lady Raiders posted a record of 8-8 and advanced to their second PSAC championship for the second time in the last three seasons. Landes was also named PSAC Coach of the Year in field hockey this year after guiding the team to a 20-3 record and the program's first conference championship.
Shippensburg had three players with at least 30 goals this year, marking the first time since 1999 and nearly upset No. 3-ranked and eventual PSAC champion West Chester in the conference championship semifinals on May 2 before being edged 16-12. The Golden Rams also finished second in the nation after losing to Adelphi in the national championship game.
Hudicka finished her final collegiate season with 56 goals, the highest total by a Shippensburg player since Cameron Colbert scored 69 in 1999. Hudicka concluded her career with 101 goals, becoming the 10th player in school history to reach 100 while finishing ninth on the school's career list.
Hudicka led the team in scoring in each of the past two seasons, totaling 66 points this year after 32 in 2005. She scored three or more goals in 11 of the team's 16 games this season, totaling a career-high and PSAC season-high eight in an 18-8 victory over Indiana (Pa.) at home on April 29.
