Lady Raider Lacrosse Falls to No. 6 Lock Haven at Home, 16-3

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Leigh Titus was one of three Lady Eagles who scored at least three goals as the sixth-ranked Lock Haven women's lacrosse team scored the game's first nine goals en route to a 16-3 victory over Shippensburg Saturday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex.
Titus led all scorers with four goals as Lock Haven (12-2, 9-2 PSAC) won its third-straight game. Jessica Blickenstaff and Mandy Alderfer each had three goals for the Lady Eagles while Lindsey Rentel totaled a game-high five points and three assists.
Blickenstaff leads Lock Haven in scoring this season with 79 points on 47 goals and 32 assists, both are also team-highs.
For Shippensburg (6-8, 5-6 PSAC), the loss creates a three-way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot in the 2007 PSAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Lady Raiders are now tied with Indiana (Pa.) and Millersville, both of whom were winners on Saturday.
Shippensburg concludes the final week of the regular-season this week with games against East Stroudsburg (2-9, 7th), Bloomsburg (7-4, 3rd) and Millersville (5-6, 4th). Other than the Lady Raiders, Millersville ends with Slippery Rock (0-11, 8th) and IUP (5-6, 4th).
Meanwhile, IUP finishes the year with West Chester (1st, 11-1) and Lock Haven (9-2, 2nd) in addition to Millersville.
Offensively for Shippensburg on Saturday, three players all had one goal each, led by junior Kelly Smith (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) who netted her 23rd of the season. Juniors Katie Irwin (Aston/Cardinal O'Hara) and Brita Paul (Salisbury, Md./James Bennett) also had goals for the Lady Raiders.
Lock Haven jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Paul scored with 3:53 remaining in the half to get Shippensburg on the board before halftime.
The Lady Eagles erupted for three goals in 1:30 to begin the game, including two in the first 59 seconds. In the second half, Lock Haven had a similar start, netting two goals just 45 seconds apart to increase its lead to 10 goals at 11-1 with 28:10 remaining.
In addition to holding a 36-16 advantage in shots, the Lady Eagles also had a hand in forcing 28 Shippensburg turnovers and posting a 24-12 edge in ground balls.
Lady Raider freshman Lauren Marron (Macungie/Emmaus) made 11 saves in goal, including eight in the first half while her counterpart Melissa Seesz won her third-straight start by stopping five shots.
Shippensburg returns to action on Monday in a key PSAC contest at home against East Stroudsburg beginning at 4:00 p.m., at Robb Sports Complex.
