Women's Lacrosse, Pi Sigma Alpha Sponsor Voter Registration Drive
Mar. 4, 2008
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - During last Wednesday's
home basketball games, the Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team,
in conjunction with Pi Sigma Alpa, the Political Science Honor Society,
held a voter registration drive to encourage Pennsylvania residents to
register to vote.
Nearly 80 people took time out from watching the Shippensburg men's and women’s basketball teams defeat Indiana (Pa.) in their final regular season games to complete their registration applications. Each new registered voter will now be eligible to vote in both the Pennsylvania primary on April 22 and the general election this coming November.
"Thank you to all who took the first step towards making their voices heard in 2008 and to those who volunteered their time to help make the event a success," said second-year head coach Naomi Radio.
If you aren’t currently registered to vote, please visit www.votespa.com to complete an online registration application or contact the Shippensburg University political science department, your local representative’s office, and/or the voter registration office in your county.
If you are registered, be sure to get out to vote in April and November!
The women's lacrosse team, who finished last season with an 8-10 record and advanced to the semifinals of the PSAC Women's Lacrosse Championship for the third time in the last four years, opens its 2008 season next Wednesday, March 11 at Queens (N.C.) beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The first home game for the Lady Raiders will be Saturday, March 22 versus IUP at 1:00 p.m.
