Mallicone enters his sixth season as the Director of Sports Medicine at Shippensburg for the 2007-08 academic year.
A 1999 graduate of Duquesne with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training, Mallicone received his master of science degree in psychology from Shippensburg in December 2000 where he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer under the mentorship of former Director of Sports Medicine of 27 years, Steve Heckler.
After graduating from Shippensburg, Mallicone became a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2000 as an intern athletic trainer at training camp. He excelled so much during his first training camp in 2000 that he was hired as the team’s seasonal intern athletic trainer for the 2001 season. Mallicone has also had an athletic training internship with the Pittsburgh Pirates through the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS).
While with the Eagles, Mallicone assisted in injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and emergency medical care. During the 2001 season, the Eagles finished with a 13-6 record, losing to the St. Louis Rams, 29-24 in what was the first of four-straight NFC championship game appearances for the team. After working two training camps and a full season in the NFL, Mallicone became an assistant athletic trainer with the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europa in March 2002 prior to coming to Shippensburg.
Mallicone, a certified athletic trainer and state credentialed
to practice athletic training in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is
an active member
of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the Eastern
Athletic Trainers' Association (EATA), and the Pennsylvania Athletic
Trainers’ Society (PATS). He is also a certified instructor in Professional
Rescuer, First Aid/CPR and AED for the American Red Cross.
A native of Uniontown, Mallicone currently resides in Shippensburg.

Theis

Entering his third year at
Shippensburg, Theis (pronounced TICE) is responsible for providing rehabilitation
and
emergency care to Shippensburg’s student-athletes and assisting the
director of sports medicine with insurance,
injury tracking, record keeping and the scheduling of student employees.
Theis graduated from Duquesne in 2002 with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training where he completed clinical rotations with the Pittsburgh Pirates, UPMC Center for Sports Medicine, Robert Morris and Carnegie Mellon.
After receiving his degree from Duquesne he attended Clarion where he received a master of science degree in rehabilitation science in 2004. While there, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer as well as an approved clinical instructor for California (Pa.) in its undergraduate athletic training program.
Theis, a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist
through the National
Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), utilized his skills during his time at
Clarion to develop comprehensive strength, balance, core stability
and integrated flexibility programs for all of the student-athletes.
After receiving his master’s degree from Clarion. Theis accepted an internship at the NASM headquarters in Calabasas, California where he was responsible for implementing orthopedic assessments, performing manual therapy and developing corrective exercise and performance enhancement programs for professional, collegiate and high school athletes.
A certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATA-BOC) and credentialed by Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine, Theis authored "Behind the Scenes 'Jumper's Knee'" published in the FORM newsletter, a publication of the NASM, in February 2005.
Originally from Coraopolis, Theis is married and lives with his wife, Allison, and daughter, Riley, in Chambersburg.
Becky Fitz

After completing her graduate work with a master of science degree in psychology at Shippensburg, Fitz officially joined the University’s athletic training staff as an assistant director of sports medicine in the fall of 2007.
Fitz has a great deal of sports medicine experience to her credit, having served as an assistant athletic trainer and instructor at Catawba while also serving as a graduate assistant in the sports medicine department while at Shippensburg.
Fitz is a board-certified athletic trainer with licenses in Pennsylvania and North Carolina and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA). She is also a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
At Shippensburg, she provided injury prevention, emergency care, treatment and developed rehabilitation protocol for student athletes. She served as a certified athletic trainer for the football team in the fall of 2005. Fitz also held additional responsibilities in the sports medicine department, helping to administer physicals and assisting with the drug testing of student-athletes.
While at Catawba, Fitz served as the certified athletic
trainer for the volleyball
and baseball teams, and was an approved clinical instructor in the
Athletic Training Education Program. In addition to her athletic training
responsibilities, she also taught a nutrition class in the Physical
Education
Department.
Fitz earned a bachelor’s of science degree in athletic training in 2004 from East Stroudsburg where she was a two-time captain of the Warrior track and field team and was an active member of the athletic training club.
Fitz currently resides in Greencastle.
