Saturday's Softball and Lacrosse Games for Shippensburg Postponed
April 21, 2006
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - In
anticipation of rain in the region on Saturday, the Shippensburg softball
doubleheader at home against Kutztown and the lacrosse game at East Stroudsburg
have been postponed and rescheduled. The softball doubleheader at Robb
Field has been moved to Sunday at 1:00 p.m., while the lacrosse game
has been moved to Tuesday, April 25 at 4:00 p.m.
The Lady Raider softball team, who split a doubleheader at West Chester
on Saturday, are 7-1 at Robb Field this season and have won their last
six-straight at home. Shippensburg (31-13, 12-4 PSAC East) is currently
ranked No. 14 in Division II and No. 2 in the Mid-Atlantic Region and split
a doubleheader on the road with Golden Bears on April 6. Just one game
separates the two teams atop the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
(PSAC) Eastern Division standings.
Meanwhile, the Shippensburg women's lacrosse team is one-half game behind
Millersville for the fourth and final spot in the PSAC championship while
just two games separate the Bloomsburg, Millersville and the Lady Raiders
for the last two spots. Shippensburg (5-6, 3-5 PSAC) defeated East Stroudsburg
12-4 at home on April 2 and beat Bloomsburg on the road 15-13 on April
6 while the Marauders edged the Lady Raiders 14-11 on April 7.
Lacrosse has four conference games remaining in the regular-season, two
at home and two on the road, and the team is 3-1 against its remaining
opponents. In addition to Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg and Millersville,
Shippensburg ends the season at home on April 29 versus Indiana (Pa.).
The Lady Raiders defeated the Indians 14-8 on April 10.
As of Friday night, the PSAC Men's and Women's Team Tennis Championships
being held at Shippensburg's Robb Sports Complex are still on time as scheduled.
