SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University softball team placed three student-athletes on the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Softball Team, announced on May 12. Seniors Liz Corr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), Anna Corr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and Jaime Dacey (Langhorne, Pa./Archbishop Wood) were all named to the First-Team.

Shippensburg was the only school to have three athletes named to the First-Team. As First-Team selections, the three will now be placed on the national ballot Academic All-America honors.

The Corr sisters and Dacey were each named All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division First-Team and to National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region First-Team this season.

Liz Corr graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics this Spring with a 3.637 grade point average. This year, she was ranked nationally with a .452 batting average, totaling 70 hits with 41 runs scored and seven stolen bases. Liz holds Shippensburg career records for at-bats (701), runs (164) and hits (279). She finished her career with batting average of .398, the second-best in school history.

Liz was named All-PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Year in 2003 and was also an NFCA All-American. She was also named as an Academic All-District II selection a year ago.

Anna Corr graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology this Spring with a 3.637 grade point average. She batted .338 with 42 RBI. Her eight triples this year were the third-highest in a single-season in school history. Anna was named PSAC Player of the Week on April 18.

Dacey graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education the Spring with a 3.737 grade point average. She led the nation in batting average for most of the year and ended the season with a .549 average, setting a new Shippensburg single-season record. Dacey also holds the school career records for batting average (.420), triples (23) and RBI (156). She was chosen as an Academic All-District selection in 2004.

The College Division is made up of all non-NCAA Division I schools across the nation.
