Shippensburg to Host NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional For Fourth-Straight Year

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - For the fourth consecutive year, Shippensburg University will be hosting the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region Softball Championship at Robb Field beginning on Thursday, May 11 and continuing through Monday, May 15. This will be first year however, the regional tournament has been expanded to eight teams.
Shippensburg (40-18) earned the No. 2-seed in this year's championship with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champion Lock Haven (46-3) earning the No. 1-seed. The rest of the field includes third-seeded Kutztown (32-17), fourth-seeded Bloomsburg (35-17), fifth-seeded California (Pa.), sixth-seeded East Stroudsburg (26-25), seventh-seeded Millersville (29-19) and eighth-seed North Carolina Central (34-14).
The tournament begins on Thursday at 10:00 a.m., with Kutztown playing East Stroudsburg, followed by Shippensburg and Millersville at Noon, Bloomsburg and California (Pa.) at 2:00 p.m., and Lock Haven versus N.C. Central at 4:00 p.m.
The championship continues with four games at the same times on both Friday and Saturday, before concluding with two games at 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m., on Sunday and, if necessary, a final game on Monday at 11:00 a.m.
Tickets, which can only be purchased at Robb Field on game day, will be $5.00 for general admission, $3.00 for senior citizens and students and $2.00 for children 12 and under. An All-Regional pass will also be available for $12.00.
