Lady Raider Softball Selected to Sixth-Straight Region Championship

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - For the sixth consecutive year and 11th overall, the Shippensburg softball team will be playing in an NCAA regional championship as the Lady Raiders were selected to the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region Championship on Monday as the No. 5-seed.

The regional tournament is set to begin on Thursday, May 10 with the Lady Raiders advancing as the No. 5-seed and playing against fourth-seed East Stroudsburg at 9:00 a.m.

This year will mark the first since 2003 that Shippensburg has not hosted the region championship as this year's tournament was awarded to Kutztown, the region's No. 2-seed. The Golden Bears also hosted the PSAC Softball Championship this past week at North Campus Field.

A schedule of games and times as well as ticket prices is listed below.

A total of 64 teams were selected to participate in the 2007 NCAA Division II Softball Championship with eight teams competing at eight regional sites in double-elimination tournaments to determine the final eight championship participants.

The eight regional championship winners will advance to the Division II championship May 17-21 at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio to be hosted by hosted by Ashland University (Ohio).
