Lady Raiders Travel to Lock Haven for PSAC Championship on Thursday

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The No. 14-ranked Shippensburg softball team will travel to Lock Haven University on Thursday looking for its fourth consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship when the team opens play in the 2006 PSAC Softball Championship.

As the No. 2-seed in the Eastern Division, the Lady Raiders will open play on Thursday at Noon, against Indiana (Pa.), the No. 3-seed from the Western Division. Shippensburg and IUP met once this season on March 26 with the Lady Raiders winning 2-0 behind a three-hit shutout and 13 strikeouts from senior Kelley Tiesi (Baltimore, Md./Catholic School of Baltimore).

The winner will play No. 5-ranked Lock Haven, the No. 1-seed in the Western Division, at 4:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the loser will play at 10:00 a.m., on Friday morning against the loser of Kutztown, the No. 3-seed in the Eastern Division, and California (Pa.), the No. 2-seed in the Western Division.

Tickets for each day of the tournament are $7.00 for adults and $2.00 for students while an all-tournament pass can be purchased for $18.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Spectators will also be charged $2.00 for parking as well.

There are two entrances for spectators. The main entrance is through the gate by the scoreboard at Hubert Jack Stadium/Charlotte Smith Field with parking available in the stadium lot. The second entrance is located midway up the path connecting lower campus with the stadium.

Parking for this access point, which is only available after 5:00 p.m., on weekdays and on weekends, is available in the Zimmerli and Akeley lots adjacent to the soccer field.

There are four bleacher areas available for spectators. Lawrence Field also features a paved path which overlooks Lawrence Field just up from the first base line. Fans are welcome to stand/sit/set up folding chairs in this area.

Pets are NOT permitted on the grass field surrounding Lawrence Field.
