Shields Named PSAC Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg softball sophomore Danielle Shields (Laurel, Del./Sussex Tech) was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the first such honor of her career. The Lady Raiders have won the award three out of the four weeks that it has been given this season.

Shields threw a pair of complete games and picked up two of the team's three wins for the week, going 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA in her two starts. At Kutztown on Thursday, she helped her team earn a doubleheader split with a 5-0 victory in game two, earning her fifth shutout of the season while scattering four hits and striking out five.

In a 5-1 victory at home against West Chester on Friday, Shields pitched her ninth complete game, surrendering just one run on six hits while striking out five.

Shields is currently 8-5 this season with a 0.93 ERA and has totaled 98 strikeouts in 83.0 innings. Her career record stands at 22-8.

Shippensburg faces PSAC Eastern Division rival East Stroudsburg in a doubleheader at home on Tuesday beginning at 2:30 p.m.
