Senior Anna Corr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) drew a walk, walking home pinch runner Liz Good (Croydon, Pa./Truman). Shepherd added a run in the sixth when Stephanie Sims scored off a Shippensburg error, but it was as close as the Rams would come, as relief pitcher freshman Danielle Shields (Laurel, Del./Sussex Tech) got Sims to fly out to end the game for her first save of the year.
Starting pitcher junior Caitlin

the year, pitching six innings.

Shippensburg held a 5-0 lead through the first five innings. Senior Jess Miller (Easton, Pa./Easton) hit a single to center field that scored junior Kristin Marll (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and sophomore Ali Morris (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks East) in the second inning. In the fourth, Morris hit a double to the gap in right center, sending home Costa and senior Mary McKee (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte), who both reached base on errors. Miller would send home Morris with her second hit of the day.
Shepherd scored an unearned run in the top of the sixth, but Shippensburg scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to end the game. Sophomore Katie Heatley (York, Pa./Bucknell University) hit a bases loaded sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Miller before Costa’s game ending double.

Freshman Jill Kirby (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) earned the win.
In addition to Liz Corr, Dacey hit her ninth triple of the season in the first game, tying the Shippensburg single season record for triples. The record was set by Melissa Laing in 1996.
