Lady Raiders Win Two On Final Day of Florida Rebel Games
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Shippensburg University softball
team won two more games on the final day of the Florida Rebel Games on Friday
afternoon. Shippensburg
(16-1) defeated Ferris State 5-1 in the morning, then went on to beat New
Haven 11-0 in the afternoon.
The first game was highlighted by a two-run home run from senior Fawn
Gaidos (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest). Senior Anna Corr
(Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) went 3-for-4 with two RBI,
while her sister Liz Corr
(Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) also went 3-for-4. Senior Amanda
Collins (Pasadena, Md./Archbishop Spalding) had
two hits, one of which was a double.
Junior Kelley Tiesi (Baltimore, Md./Catholic School of Baltimore) earned
the win, striking out eleven. She goes to 7-1 on the year.
Shippensburgπs win over New Haven was highlighted by a five run second
inning. Senior Beth Rudai (Glen Mills, Pa./University High, Ill.) went
3-for-3 with two RBI while senior Sarah Costa (Laurel, Md./Atholton) went
2-for-4 with an RBI.
Senior Jaime Dacey (Langhorne, Pa./Archbishop Wood) continued her assault on
the record book, hitting her seventh triple of the season, and driving in three
runs in the game. With 19 triples for her career, she ties the Shippensburg
career record for triples with Denise Stephen.
Freshman pitcher Danielle Shields (Laurel, Del./Sussex Tech) earned
the win, and remains undefeated with a 6-0 record. She had eight strikeouts,
giving
up only one hit.
Shippensburg hosts a doubleheader with Kutztown University in its home opener
on Friday, March 25 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
