Tiesi, Shields Pitch Shutouts at Florida Rebel Games
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Stellar pitching led to a pair
of shutouts for the Shippensburg University softball team on Monday afternoon
at the Florida Rebel Games.
The Lady Raiders defeated Bellarmine University, 5-0, and then went on to
beat Southern Indiana University, 4-0, in game two.
Freshman Danielle Shields (Laurel, Del./Sussex Tech) pitched
in six innings against Bellarmine and remains undefeated with a 5-0 record.
She struck out
three and gave up two hits in the game. Junior Caitlin MacPherson (Hemlock,
N.Y./Monroe C.C.) took the mound for the final inning and had one
strikeout.
Senior Liz Corr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and sophomore Heather
Chantiles (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) each had two hits in the
game. Senior Jaime Dacey (Langhorne, Pa./Archbishop Wood) went
1-for-3 with two RBI while senior Sarah Costa (Laurel, Md./Atholton) also
had an RBI, going 1-for-2 in the game. Senior Amanda Collins (Pasadena,
Md./Archbishop Spalding) had
a double and an RBI.
Senior Kelley Tiesi (Baltimore, Md./Catholic School of Baltimore) had a 14
strikeout performance in game two, scattering five hits throughout the game.
She raises her record to 5-1.
Liz Corr went
2-for-4 in the game and senior Anna
Corr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) hit a double. Costa
had an RBI and a triple.
The Lady Raiders continue at the Rebel Spring Games on Tuesday, taking on
the College of Saint Rose and Findlay University.
