Shippensburg Sweeps Doubleheader With Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Shippensburg University softball team remained undefeated with a doubleheader sweep over Pfeiffer University on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Raiders (4-0) won both games by a 9-0 margin.

Senior Ann Corr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) went 2-for-4 in game one with two triples and two RBI. Senior Jaime Dacey (Langhorne, Pa./Archbishop Wood) went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a triple. Senior Amanda Collins (Pasadena, Md./Archbishop Spalding) also went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Junior Kelley Tiesi (Baltimore Md,/Catholic School of Baltimore) earned the win and is 2-0 so far this year.

In game two, senior Beth Rudai (Glen Mills, Pa./University High, Ill.) went 4-for-4 while Corr continued to hit for extra bases, with a double and a triple in a 2-for-3 effort. Senior Sarah Costa (Laurel, Md./Atholton) went 2-for-2 and senior Jess Miller (Easton, Pa./Easton) went 2-for-3.

Making her first collegiate start on the mound, freshman Danielle Shields (Laurel, Del./Sussex Tech) pitched a one-hitter for her first victory.

For the weekend, Shippensburg outscored its opponents 74-1 over a four-game span.

The Lady Raiders' next game is against Belmont Abbey College on Saturday, February 26 in a doubleheader that begins at 1:00 p.m.
